Mobile application RFBENCHMARK allows measurements of radio coverage provided by mobile operator and testing of Internet Connection Quality for different Radio Access Technologies (RAN), such as: GSM, 3G, LTE, WIFI.

Installation

Application can be downloaded free of charge directly from RFBenchmark website and Google Store. You can find application at Google Store using search string RFBENCHMARK. As alternative, if you have configured Google account in your mobile phone, it is possible to installan application using browser and link at RFBENCHMARK Web Site

How to use mobile application RFBenchmark

By pressing left upper button you can display application main menu

Main Page

The main page show interactive map with quality scale, actual terminal position and current measurements.

Service provider name

LAC (Location Area Code) and CID (Cell Identifier). Parameters using to describe mobile phone location in mobile network. CID tell about mobile phone serving cell. This identifier belongs with other CID to cell set described by location area code LAC

An actual using technology (LTE, 3G, GSM)

Measured signal level in dBm (logarithmic scale, which linear level of the received power is referenced to 1mW). GPS refresh and display of actual position on the map. The next press turns on tracking mode.

Tapping this button show or hide aggregated signal level measurements made by other users for selected map area. You can display one operator or all operators depending on your preferences (9)

The quality of signal scale from 0 to 5 is used to classify quality of signal level (4). Each level has unique colour, which is use to display measurement points on the map

Ranking of mobile operators connected with signal level (6) and speed test measurments(7). You can choose technology (GSM, UMTS, LTE) of measurements.

Performance test

Performance test allow test the Internet parameters in two scenarios: Mobile Internet. You should enable data transfer service in your mobilephone and to turn off WiFi. WiFi network. It is enough to connect with available WiFi network and proceed with performance test. In the performance test,application is measuring three main parameters:ping, download and upload speed. A detailed description of each parameter and its interpretation, reflecting quality of service, can be found at Methodology section. Attention! One time test use about 15MB of data transfer.

Three graphs inform about the measured parameters: ping, download and upload speed

After test, by tapping each graph (4) you can display bar chart presenting sequent samples of measurement for each main quality parameter: ping, download and upload speed. Below graphs, you can find as well, average worldwide results for each parameter for refrence purposes

Information about which parameter (5) is actually displayed. In order to change displayed information you need to press appropriategraph (4)

A colour bar display next to each of defined data services (WWW, Video SD, Video HD, …) inform about user perceived quality of service. A short, red bar means that achieved quality of connection is not sufficient for respective data service(WWW, Video SD, Video HD, …). In contrast a long, green bar indicates very good connection forrespective data service (WWW, Video SD, Video HD, …)

Questionnaire let you report problems with provide service quality. You can choose exact problem, determine place where problem was and write additional comment.

Register

To create an account you should choose „Register” option or use the Facebook or Twitter account. If you already have RFBenchmark application account you should sign in using assigned credentials or use the Facebook, Twitter (alternatively). You can use application without login. In this case no user specyfic filtering of data is available.

The button „Exit” causes shut down the application.In order to proceed with background measurements you should hide application window using „Home” or „Back” button instead
