According to the Chinese National Bureau of Statistics, the total turnover of telecommunication services in the country amounted to 13,675.8 billion yuan in 2020, a year-on-year increase of 28.1%.

It has been reported that by the end of the year, there were 1,775.98 million phone subscribers across the country, 1,594.07 million of whom were mobile phone subscribers. When it comes to mobile phone coverage in China, it reached 113.9 units per 100 people.

In terms of fixed broadband Internet users, their number amounted to 483.55 million, an increase of 34.27 million as compared to the end of 2019. 454.14 million of them were fixed fiber-optic broadband Internet users, up by 36.75 million over the previous year.

In 2020, Chinese mobile Internet traffic reached 165.6 billion gigabytes, a yearly increase of 35.7%. At the end of last year, the number of Internet surfers in the country was 989 million, 986 million of whom were mobile Internet users. The average Internet penetration rate was 70.4%; in rural areas – 55.9%.
