Finally, June is here! Summer has truly sprung, bringing with it a lively pace of life. Many of us head off on holidays, exploring various parts of Poland and places beyond. At the same time, our country continues to draw a growing number of tourists from around the globe. This increase in visitors and the need for connectivity on the move has led to a rise in demand for fast and reliable mobile Internet. Let’s take a look at the state of mobile Internet quality and speed in Poland as of June 2023.

In June 2023, we recorded a total of 556,827 measurements. Of these, 73,575 (or 13.21%) were made within the 5G network coverage, 445,467 (or 80%) used LTE technology, and 37,785 (or 6.79%) used WCDMA technology. These numbers show a slight decrease from May, which saw exactly 585,735 measurements.

When it comes to network providers, the majority of measurements were taken within the coverage area of Orange (33.7%), followed by Play (31.7%), Plus (17.8%), and T-Mobile (16.8%).

Mobile Internet in Poland – What was the situation like in May 2023?

In May 2023, Plus continued to lead the 5G network data download speed category, achieving a remarkable speed of 142.8 Mbps. T-Mobile stood out from the competition, taking the top spot in the 5G network data upload speed category with a score of 35.7 Mbps. Play not only excelled in the data upload speed category but also recorded the best ping score on the 5G network, clocking in at 27.3 ms.

In the realm of 4G LTE technology, T-Mobile held its ground and even strengthened its position at the top of the data download speed category, reaching an impressive 44.5 Mbps. Play, with a score of 22.0 Mbps, confirmed its dominance in the data upload speed category. Not one to rest on its laurels, Play demonstrated its strength in delivering a low average ping on the 4G network, achieving a solid score of 30.0 ms.

5G performance

Average data download speed: Plus (142.8 Mbps)

June’s mobile Internet results in Poland unveiled some intriguing developments. In the 5G download speed category, Plus held its position firmly, clocking an impressive 142.8 Mbps. Since we began our 5G measurements, Plus has consistently been the front-runner in Poland, a fact further cemented by recent Drive Tests in Warsaw.

T-Mobile, with a score of 57.7 Mbps, secured the second spot, leaving Play, which registered 53.9 Mbps, in third place. Orange, with a result of 50.4 Mbps, came in fourth.

Average data upload speed: T-Mobile (35.7 Mbps)

In the 5G network upload speed category, T-Mobile maintained its reign, registering a speed of 35.7 Mbps. The rankings remained largely consistent with the previous measurements. Play, with a score of 34.9 Mbps, secured a solid second place. Orange, with a result of 32.3 Mbps, landed in third place, while Plus, despite its strong performance in the data download category, ended up last in this category with a speed of 24.9 Mbps.

Lowest ping value: Play (27.3 ms)

In the category of the lowest average ping value on the 5G network, Play once again topped the charts in Poland with a score of 27.3 ms, replicating its success from the previous month. T-Mobile, with a score of 28.8 ms, secured the second spot. Orange, with a ping of 30.8 ms, took the third spot, while Plus rounded off the category with a ping of 35.9 ms.

4G LTE performance

Average data download speed: T-Mobile (44.5 Mbps)

The results for 4G LTE Internet in June were equally compelling. In the category of average download speed, T-Mobile retained the top spot with a speed of 44.5 Mbps. Play, with a score of 40.5 Mbps, came in a close second, slightly edging out Orange, which achieved 40.1 Mbps. Plus, with a score of 33.8 Mbps, landed in fourth place.

Average data upload speed: Play (22.0 Mbps)

In the average upload speed category, Play emerged as the clear leader, clocking in at 22.0 Mbps. T-Mobile, with a score of 19.1 Mbps, secured the second spot, and Orange, with a score of 18.8 Mbps, took third place. Plus, despite its strong performance in other categories, found itself in last place in this category with a speed of 16.7 Mbps.

Lowest ping value: Play (30.0 ms)

In the final measured category, Play maintained its first-place position with a ping of 30.0 ms. Orange, with a score of 31.7 ms, secured a respectable second place, and T-Mobile, with a score of 33.5 ms, came in third. Plus rounded off this category in fourth place with a ping of 38.2 ms.

How did we collect data for the ranking?

The measurements are collected from the users of our mobile app. It allows us to measure basic mobile network parameters – including signal level and quality depending on the technology used by the mobile device, information about the mobile network operator, or the country where the smartphone is located. In addition, on-demand measurements of data download and upload speeds, as well as a latency test, are performed.

When the app notices a low-quality voice call, lack of mobile Internet service, or other services, it has the ability to report the user’s current position where the problem occurred.
